The Work That Reconnects Network is pleased to be partnering with Radical Joy for Hard Times in the yearlong People Binding the Earth (with Love) project. This action, in service of the Great Turning, combines the forces of 11 partners in addition to the Work That Reconnects Network whose work centers on honoring the wholeness of the earth and all of her beings. The project, which declares with “bold acts of beauty and golden yarn, that the places we love are vital parts of the fabric of life, even when they are damaged or threatened,” is an embodiment of the core principles of the Work That Reconnects and offers facilitators and practitioners of the Work an opportunity to participate in a global action on behalf of the healing of the planet. Joanna Macy understood deeply that when the pain and suffering of a wound is met with love and tenderness, transformation occurs. Like the Japanese art of Kintsugi, the art of repairing pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with gold dust, the golden yarn used in People Binding the Earth (with Love) meets what is broken with love — creating connection and beauty in places that most need it.
